Meta, Facebook’s parent company, has launched the first of a series of shortcuts for its Messenger app. Its new command system makes your messaging more enjoyable and efficient. Both iOS and Android now have two shortcuts: @everyone and /silent. Both are intended to enhance your Messenger group chat experience.

The platform already features a function that allows you to enter “@” to tag a specific individual in a discussion. You may now use @everyone to grab everyone’s attention in the chat. In addition, you may communicate with someone without issuing notice by using the /silent command.

When you start a message with @everyone, all chat participants will be alerted. @everyone is ideal for group reminders, spontaneous get-togethers, or gathering the brain trust to crowdsource an answer to a time-sensitive topic.” This ensures that your message receives maximum exposure and that no one is left out.

Members of a user’s chat will not receive any notification of your message if they use the /silent shortcut. It is also available on Instagram under the handle “@silent.” Using @silent or /silent to send a message removes the fear of interrupting someone with a non-urgent pop-up notice or upsetting them during their off-hours,” meta said in a blog post.

Features Coming Soon

/Pay will be available to Messenger users in the United States soon. This shortcut makes it easy to give and receive money in Messenger chats. Simply use /pay to transfer or seek money safely without incurring any expenses. This will be a good option for customers who do not want to use applications like PayPal or Venmo.

/gif will be available solely on iOS shortly. As a result, finding a GIF for your discussion will be more accessible than ever. To locate the perfect GIF for your chat, type /gif.

/shrug and /table flip are likewise iOS-only commands. You won’t have to type out or copy and paste the table flip and shrug emoticons. When you type /shrug, this “¯\_(ツ)_/¯” appears. When you type /table flip, this “(╯°□°)╯︵ ┻━┻” seems.

Even more, shortcuts are expected to come to Messenger later this year.
