Users could previously only pin one post or reel to their profile, but Instagram now allows users to pin up to three posts or reels to the top of their profile. So they’ll sit at the top of your Instagram grid, just like pinned posts on TikTok and Twitter, as if you just uploaded them.

Select one of your posts or reels, then hit the three dots in the post’s top-right corner to activate the function. After that, select Pin to your profile. When you return to your profile, you’ll notice your post with a white pin icon in the top-left corner of your grid. Any previous pinned posts will be shifted to the right if you decide to add another post or reel.

Since at least the beginning of this year, pinned posts have been in the works. Alessandro Paluzzi, a reverse engineer, first noticed the function in January, and Instagram publicly confirmed a test in April. While many users already utilize story highlights to highlight different types of material (they display as bubble-shaped thumbnails below your profile photo and follower count), pinned posts might help producers guarantee that specific articles get seen.
