Elon Musk, the CEO of Twitter, responded to the widely shared photo of the company’s San Francisco headquarters being rebranded as “Titter” by claiming that he had painted the letter “W” on the board at Twitter HQ white in order to match the backdrop hue. According to reports, Musk’s online vote on the microblogging site last year led to the name change. This occurred only a week after Musk allegedly turned Twitter’s iconic blue-bird emblem into the “Doge” meme for a brief period of time last week. This caused the memecoin price to spike.

Elon Musk drops an Official Statement

“Our landlord at SF HQ says we’re legally required to keep the sign as Twitter & cannot remove “w,” so we painted it a background colour,” Musk tweeted in response to the name change. Musk mockingly said they attempted to “muffle Titter” in the same thread. For those who don’t know, a titter is a half-repressed chuckle.

According to rumours, the decision was made due to a survey Musk took online in April 2022 asking respondents if they supported removing the “W” from Twitter’s name or not. Before it was eventually deleted, the poll attracted a large reaction from internet users, with hundreds of thousands of persons participating.

One user wrote, “Titter is better,” whereas William LeGate, CEO of Pillow Fight, sarcastically commented on Musk’s antics and said, “Elon Musk, in a remarkable show of maturity, has removed the “w” from Twitter’s logo outside their San Francisco HQ. The company now reads as ‘Titter.”
