The YouTube Partner Program (YPP) is a program that allows creators to monetize their content on YouTube. Creators who meet the program’s eligibility requirements gain access to various monetization tools such as Super Thanks, Super Chat, Super Stickers, channel memberships, and the ability to promote their own merchandise through YouTube Shopping. The requirements for YPP include reaching a certain subscriber count, meeting watch hour thresholds, and adhering to YouTube’s community guidelines and policies.

YouTube has majorly buffed the Monetisation Requirements

How to monetize your YouTube channel

YouTube is making changes to its requirements for creators to access monetization tools. The company is expanding its shopping affiliate program to U.S.-based creators who are part of YPP and have over 20,000 subscribers. Under the new conditions, creators must have at least 500 subscribers, three public uploads in the last 90 days, and either 3,000 watch hours in the past year or 3 million Shorts views in the last 90 days. Previously, the requirements were at least 1,000 subscribers and either 4,000 watch hours in the past year or 10 million Shorts views in the last 90 days.

Once creators meet the new threshold, they can apply to become part of YPP and gain access to monetization tools such as Super Thanks, Super Chat, Super Stickers, channel memberships, and the ability to promote their own merchandise through YouTube Shopping. However, the requirement of three video uploads in 90 days may pose a challenge for creators focused on longer videos who may struggle to produce multiple videos within that timeframe, even if they have accumulated millions of views.

While the eligibility criteria to earn on the platform have been tweaked, the method for earning via ad revenue remains unchanged. Creators will still have to ensure that their content has a broad reach in order to generate money via ad revenue. YouTube plans to provide more details about these new programs at the upcoming VidCon conference.

These new eligibility criteria will initially apply to the U.S., the U.K., Canada, Taiwan, and South Korea, with plans to expand to other countries where YPP is available.
