WhatsApp released Disappearing messages to make chat on the platform more private. However, users who use the disappearing mode in the app may still have essential communications that they want to keep hidden. This might be a URL, a series of instructions, or anything else necessary to be kept in the chat.

Now, it appears like WhatsApp will address this issue with a new feature that will allow users to store and save specific messages for later reference even when they are speaking in vanishing mode. According to a recent report from WABetaInfo, the feature is now under testing by the firm. It will be available to WhatsApp Beta users on Android, iOS, and Desktop later this year before making its way to the app’s stable version for all WhatsApp users.

As per an image that has gone viral on the internet after the announcement, WhatsApp will be introducing a dedicated area on the profile page of a chat where all the Kept Messages will be available. This option is located directly below Starred messages and above Mute alerts.

The Keep Messages function will be available in group conversations and one-on-one chats, where it will most likely be much more beneficial. While the functionality is still under development, there is no knowing how long it will take to reach its beta version. However, given the app’s record of introducing new features to beta editions, we might see the functionality arrive in a few months.
