Instagram tagging feature has been around for the longest time and almost every active instagram user knows its importance and necessity as it literally binds and showcases connections and networks. It could either be a simple tag to mention your best friends in a picture after a crazy hang out, or a tag of your favourite restaurant’s Instagram handle because you just cannot seem to have enough. In either of the cases, the idea of highlighting and hyping someone is evident which automatically elevates the other person’s profile and presence. 


However, the idea of tagging is not just limited to uplifting someone but also for promotional and marketing purposes. 

How can the right tagging help you elevate your profile? 


-Tagging can also be used as a way to expand your horizons, put your posts out there in new places and create an exposure for it so that you can appeal to a newer and wider audience. 


-When you create posts, you can tag certain bloggers, creators from your niche and people in the circle so that your post automatically gets saved to the tagged posts in their profile. So that whenever someone will explore their tagged posts, they can come across your post and find your profile. However, it is mandatory to not spam, tag similar users over and over, tag creators and strangers who are not relevant for your post or content as it can put others off. 


-If you opt to tag official and famous pages, there are chances of also getting featured and your post getting promoted. It is also mentioned in a lot of bios which can be checked and if your post gets selected then your content gets a chance to get featured in front of their followers. 


-It becomes more likely for them to come across your content and for other recognized users to find your content as well as engage with it. 


-This also similarly helps your post be on another feed except yours which increases your chances of attracting new followers, more opportunities and increase in followers. 

-This also increases your chances of getting higher engagement as people may come across your content and like it, especially if they are looking for a brand like yours. It will be the tagging feature that gets them directed towards your posts and creates a direct path for exposure. 


-Some people may have removed unnecessary tagging and this feature will not allow your post to be showcased in their tagged posts which is why it is necessary to do the research first and only go ahead with profiles that you seem are active, open and welcoming to this. 


-This should also be done for your friends and by your friends, or pages with similar follower count so that both the profiles can mutually benefit from this and gain followers as well as come across new audiences. However, this needs to be rightly and responsibly used.  


All you need to do is that while creating the post, tag on the icon that suggests tagging and type out the instagram handle of the particular user, profile or recognised page and then move ahead to tag them. You can tag many users if you like but it is better to keep it organized, clean and relevant so that it looks clear and appealing.
