There are many options available in WhatsApp, some of them are nice and straightforward to uncover while others require you to delve a little deeper into the application. You may hide your last seen on the messaging app, reply to messages with emojis, and, if you’d like, change the backdrop for each contact. Here, we’re focusing on a tip that we recently learned and enjoy. We’ve covered most of the tips in separate articles, but in this one, we’ll be focusing on how to hide our WhatsApp display picture for specific people.

Here’s how you do it

Did you realise that you may prevent specific contacts from seeing your WhatsApp profile picture? It might be that you don’t want a certain person or group of people to see your pictures, or that you want to appear to have blocked someone in order to teach them a lesson, but you don’t want to truly do so because then you won’t know if they message you.

Here’s how to do it:

  1. Open the WhatsApp app
  2. Tap on the Settings tab in the bottom right corner
  3. Tap on Account
  4. Tap Privacy
  5. Tap on Profile Picture
  6. Tap on My Contacts Except…
  7. Choose any contacts you don’t want to see your WhatsApp profile picture
  8. Tap on Done in the top right corner

The contacts you choose will still be able to send and receive messages from you as usual, but instead of your WhatsApp photo, they will see a large circle with a human icon.
