TikTok Lets Users Create Their Own AI Voice-Overs — Is Content Creation About to Get Easier?
Think of writing a script and not having to record the same lines over and over but instead read the script from a computer in your own voice. In 2024, TikTok reportedly tried out this concept, allowing certain users to have access to a custom AI voice feature.
What Is TikTok’s AI Voice-Over Feature?
Some TikTok users were able to access a “Create Your Own AI Voice” feature in the platform’s voice-over feature in August 2024. Users could voice over their videos and have an AI voice create a copy of them to use in his/her future videos on TikTok. Other reports also mentioned custom voice could be used in the text to speech and translated to other languages. Notably, this is a 2024 feature roll out reported. TikTok hasn’t issued an official statement regarding the availability of this custom-voice feature to all users at the moment so it’s unclear whether it’s available for everyone or just a select few.
How Can Creators Use Their Own AI Voice?
The 2024 roll out was reported as a user-submitting the custom-voice option and selecting a few lines to be captured and then an AI version of their voice created. This voice then could be used in text-to-speech videos. At the time, it wasn’t confirmed that all TikTok users would be able to access the feature. Since then TikTok has been continuously improving its AI capabilities. It also announced additional AI-driven creative solutions for its Symphony in 2026 which will feature integration with ByteDance’s video model Seedance 2.0.
Can AI Voice-Overs Make Content Creation Easier?
The use of a reusable AI voice will save you the time of recording all voiceovers manually, if available. This might come handy for tutorials, explainers, stories, etc. with narration. Creators can also market their TikTok content on Ytviews.in, which gives TikTok promoting services such as viewership, likes, followers and comments.
What Should TikTok Creators Keep in Mind?
The responsibility of using AI-generated audio. At the moment TikTok deems AI-generated content as “content that has been generated or altered by artificial intelligence such as text or audio.” In addition, according to TikTok’s guidelines, creators might be required to tag realistic AI-generated content. Creators should thus adhere to the guidelines of AI content creation that TikTok has recently introduced, and refrain from using AI-generated voices to mislead or assume the identity of others.
Final Thoughts
A TikTok custom AI voice feature, reportedly, showed how AI can facilitate a more seamless voice-over process. Creators should however note that the reported feature is different from TikTok’s current plans for AI features in 2026, and look to see if there are voice features available for their app.
