Harry Potter is going to Snapchat, but it’s not a typical entertainment deal. Preparing for the upcoming HBO Max series of Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone, Snapchat is taking the wizarding world into AR, Bitmoji, chats and fan events. For customers, it’s fresh experiences with the franchise. For creators, it’s new tools and content opportunities based on one of the world’s largest fandoms, in a timely fashion.

What is the Snapchat and HBO Max Partnership?

Over the course of the season, Snapchat and HBO Max are rolling out 12 Harry Potter themed AR Lenses. As Announced on 31 August 2026, the first lenses are already available in the official @harrypotter Snapchat account! These lenses allow Snapchat users to engage with the franchise, rather than just watch promotional content. More experiences will be added onto the platform as the season continues.

Hogwarts Is Coming to Your Chats and Bitmoji

The partnership is not limited to AR. Snapchat is also introducing Harry Potter-themed Chat Wallpapers and Bitmoji fashion based on Hogwarts costumes and outfits. It will also have a Harry Potter Snapchat app icon, providing fans with yet another avenue to make their Snapchat experience more personal.

The Magic Is Moving Beyond the Screen

Meanwhile, Snapchat is going on the road with AR Mirrors at fans’ events in the U.S. and U.K. to give fans the chance to virtually try out Hogwarts-inspired clothing and accessories based on their house. It brings a tangible component to the online advertising and provides fans with another way to connect with the franchise.

What Harry Potter’s Snapchat Takeover Means for Creators

Timing and participation is the largest opportunity for creators as The AR Filters program has ended. From new lenses to Bitmoji fashion, and other experiences being rolled out during the season, Snapchat creators have plenty of relevant material to add to their Harry Potter content, reactions and fan activities. The partnership also points to the fact that key entertainment launches are developing more and more social-first experiences that creators can be part of with audiences.

Final Thoughts

The launch of Harry Potter will be an interactive social experience with Snapchat. This season, from new AR Lenses to fan-favorite features, both viewers and creators will have more opportunities to interact with the wizarding world before and during the series’ debut on HBO Max in December 2026.
