What Is Meta’s Edits Film Festival?

On 24th August 2026, Meta’s India branch announced the Edits Film Festival for India. The bet dares creators to create average, unrefined video content for Instagram into something cinematic via its standalone video creation app, Edits. The submission period is 45 days long, from August 24 to October 8. Meta will choose 10 to 20 Reels to be featured at an exclusive festival.

Why Is Meta Launching the Festival in India?

Meta has not cited any specific reason for picking India. The nation, however is a large market for Instagram creators and Reels. Meta claims India is home to the world’s largest community of Instagram creators with creators creating more Reels each week than any other market. Meta’s 2025 research also revealed that 92% of the Indians surveyed chose Reels over other short-form video platforms. Meta also shared that in June 2026, Reels generated almost 60% more creator engagement than other short-form video platforms that it surveyed.

How Can Short-Form Video Creators Participate?

During the submission period, creators will be required to submit their own original Reel created entirely with Edits. They can use features including filters, effects, fonts, audio effects, overlays and music. They have to tag @metaindia, @weareyuvaa and put their caption with the hashtag #EditsFilmFestival to showcase the film’s Edits components.

Can the Meta Edits Film Festival Help New Creators Get Discovered?

Potentially. The chosen Reels will be showcased at the festival, and the potential winners will be identified by the jury and will be promoted on the social media platforms of Meta India.
