Why did mobile creators boom in 2020?
We all know that 2020 was a pandemic year for all of us when we were locked in our houses. We turned to our screens not just for entertainment but also to be busy, to be creative, and to create the content as well. Let’s have a look at it precisely—

1. Creativity meets opportunity.
People somehow discovered hobbies and many try to make content in that hobby from cooking experiments to dance reels and life hack videos. Lockdown actually turned every day moments into a creative basket. As mentioned by YourStory by 2022 nearly 80 million content creators were active in India
2. Watching, scrolling, creating
The pandemic opened the doors to digital adoption. We got millions of new internet users and affordable smartphones were becoming very common. People were just involved in either watching, scrolling, or creating so everyone was somehow consuming the content.
3. Low data costs
People were spending five hours daily on average and most of it on mobile. They were consuming more content than ever. Also they have got the cherry on the cake which was cheap mobile data at that time.

4. Policy support.
There was a fund collection for creator growth and we have witnessed the launch of the Indian Institute of Creative Technology which boosted their confidence. Policies in favor of digital growth were also motivating people to create more.
5. Real and rapid growth
gaming, fashion, parenting, and entertainment. There were creators making videos and consuming them from every niche and in every niche. India’s creator economy grew 322% between 2020 and 2024. There was a huge number the real craze for the creation of videos and the rapid growth of Indian mobile creators.

Conclusion
It’s not like that; Indian creators didn’t just emerge out of nowhere but they were actually born from necessity and also curiosity. earlier the smartphone was just a tool but gradually with time it became a studio, a newsroom, and a stage, all in one
However we can see today. We have creators from small towns to metropolitan cities. It’s not wrong to say that creators are proving day by day that their creativity needs a phone and a purpose.
