We all are aware of the popular professional app LinkedIn, today it is not just a hiring or job search platform it acts as your ‘Portfolio’. Yes, your profile is now your portfolio and tells stories about what you do and who you are at just one glance so, it is important to fix it right. Today, in this blog we will break down and carefully study each section of your LinkedIn profile so that your profile stands as an outstanding one.

Headline and Keywords:

Your profile’s headline matters the most as that is the first thing that recruiters see while analyzing your application or before trying to reach out to you. When your headline speaks about your work it increases your credibility and leaves a good impression on viewers and recruiters.

1.Use keywords only to keep your profile crisp and small (For Instance- I tell stories about brands in a way you can’t ignore it)

2.If space is still available, you can also add your current designation or previous experience that help you stand out from the crowd.

Profile Picture:

It is always advisable to upload a professional picture of yours on your profile, if not a complete professional yet semi-professional will also do the job. This helps the recruiter know that you have the understanding to draw a line between personal, social and professional work.

The About Section:

You may be surprised to know that you’re about section plays a much more important role in shaping your profile on LinkedIn than you think. It is a space which LinkedIn gives you to describe yourself and your journey (whatever achievement you have made till now).

1.Be Elaborative yet keep a check on your words.

2.Use keywords when describing your achievement

3.You can also mention what opportunities you look forward to

4.Mention your key achievements but first mention who You are a person.

Example- Greetings, I am a UGC content creator from the past 5 years and I have worked with multiple brands both national and international. Currently I am open to future collaboration opportunities with fashion brands. Looking forward to connecting with many like-minded people.

An elaborative Experience Section:

Just mentioning your experience will not do much work, you also need to elaborate what experience you have gained at a particular place, what all projects where you involved in and what was your role. Keep it brief yet informative.

Example: I was a member of 180 Degree Consultancy Services at my college. I was involved in providing consulting services to two of our clients. The first project we were working on was related to an NGO and I have given detailed consulting on ‘Marketing Strategies’ and for the second my role was inclined towards Public Relation. Apart from consulting services, I have also made contributions in organizing webinars and bringing speakers for our events.

Skills and Certification:

Add all the relevant skills that you have acquired and also add your certification with the proper link available as it enhances your credibility.

Bonus Advice:

1.Know Your Niche:

You should be clear about a niche if partially then also move forward with a plan.

2.Build Meaningful Connection:

Making 500+ connections on LinkedIn without any thought can look good on profile but will not earn you much yield. So, to build meaningful connections the process will be slow yet meaningful.

3.Stay Updated:

Always make sure to stay updated if you are hiring, mention it on your LinkedIn profile picture, search for jobs also mention it and always keep updating your profile with whatever key milestones you achieve.

Conclusion:

Maintaining a LinkedIn profile is not a very hard thing to do until and unless you have the right knowledge. However, few things can differ from profile to profile like something can work for an individual but not for a brand but there is a way for everything, if you need more insights on how to grow on LinkedIn you can refer us for that as well.
