At first, you may think it’s a good idea to share your YouTube password with your team so that they can help manage your content. However, in order to protect both yourself and your content, you should never share your account information with anyone else. Instead, you can give them access to your channel through Channel Permissions.

Here’s everything you need to know about Channel Permissions.

There are four different levels of access.

When you grant someone access to your channel, they can go into YouTube Studio and see your channel data, tools, and features. However, what they can see and do is limited by the level of access you grant them.

Only the channel owner or a manager can add or remove access to the channel. A manager can also add or remove others as well as edit everything. However, they cannot delete the channel. Below a manager is an editor. In this role, someone can edit everything on your channel, but they can’t add or remove others or delete the channel.

If you want someone else to be able to see your channel data without being allowed to edit any of it, then you can add them as a viewer. To keep them from accessing your revenue data, you can add them as a limited viewer.

Find Channel Permissions in your YouTube Studio.

In order to add managers, editors, ov viewers through Channel Permissions, head to your YouTube Studio. On the left side, select “Settings.” Then, click on “Permissions.”

Under this tab, click on “Invite.” Enter the Google email address that belongs to the team member you want to add. Then, select “Access” and assign their role. Be sure you save your choices.

If you decide to revoke someone’s access to your channel, navigate back to “Permissions.” Select the drop-down menu next to their name. Then, either assign them a new role or select “Remove access.”

Brand accounts can’t utilize Channel Permissions.

If you run your channel from a brand account, then you won’t be able to utilize Channel Permissions. Currently, the feature is only available to channels that are not associated with brand accounts. However, YouTube plans to roll the feature out to brand accounts in the future.

Channel Permissions also doesn’t support every aspect of YouTube Studio quite yet. Channel managers, editors, and viewers can’t access info cards, end screens, the Live Control Room, or the YouTube mobile app.

If you want to give other people access to your channel data, then you can grant them access through Channel Permissions. Utilize this feature to protect your channel while still furthering your career.

The post Everything You Need To Know About Youtube Channel Permissions first appeared on YTVIEWS.IN.

The first metric is the total time spent on the platform, including the comments users read and post on a video.

The other metric is reportedly being called ‘quality time watch’. The measurement is supposed to spot content that offers something constructive to the viewer, instead of just increasing their time spent on the platform.

YouTube had been facing negative critical reviews that claimed the platform only rewards creators on the basis of likes and views, in the course also encouraging, ‘clickbait’ and offensive or inappropriate content.

Recently, YouTube had revamped its Community Guidelines with the YouTube Strikes System to warn channels breaking the rules introducing more opportunities for everyone to understand their policies, for removing prohibited content.

If and when these metrics start being used, it will be a step forward towards promoting quality content on the platform and would also affect the creators on the platform.

The post YouTube tests two new internal metrics to determine quality content first appeared on YTVIEWS.IN.

Creators can compare and analyze videos on their channels to know what’s working and what’s not. The two tools would let them see several videos at once and two videos against each other on the YouTube Creator Studio dashboard.

Dot Plots

The feature is available for any videos published from 2019 onwards. Metrics that can be viewed in the report are views, impressions, average view duration, clickthrough rate, and more. The tool is not available for artist channels.

How To access the Dots Plot Report:

Go to channel analytics on the sidebar in the Creator Studio dashboard

Click on ‘advanced mode’ then ‘compare to’ in the top right corner

Select ‘First 24 hours video performance’; customize the dates as desired when viewing the report

Choose period since published from the top right corner

Move the mouse pointer on top of the videos to know what video each dot is

View the top, average, and bottom performing videos below the dot chart, categorized according to the selected metric

If a creator wants to compare just two videos in the first 24 Hours period:

Go to the video report

Click on the date picker

Select ‘First 24 Hours’

Click on ‘Advanced Mode’, then ‘Compare To’, and select the video to be weighed against the previously selected

Common patterns amongst the top, average, and bottom-performing videos can be traced to find threads that are pulling their performance down.

For instance, if all bottom-performing videos have a lower clickthrough rate, it would mean that the style of thumbnails and the kind of thumbnails used are not attractive enough for the viewer to watch the video.

If the average view duration is not close to the maximum or average length of the video, then the videos are not as engaging to hold the audience for the full video. So on, creators can improve the creative process by analyzing what is working and what is not.

The post YouTube introduces video comparison tools in Analytics first appeared on YTVIEWS.IN.

The Creator Insider channel often shares updates into what YouTube is working on behind-the-scenes, giving creators insight into what’s to come.

Here are a few cool new features YouTube is experimenting with.

Now all creators can see the recent subs card.

When using the original YouTube Studio Beta, a lot of creators expressed concern that their recent subscribers report showed less than it had in Creator Studio Classic. Once a more detailed version was rolled out, the report still only showed for creators who had gained a new subscriber in the last ninety days.

Now, however, the recent subs card is visible to all creators, regardless of their subscriber growth over any period of time. To access it, go to your YouTube Studio and scroll down. The report will be on the right, under the channel analytics card.

If you want to see a more detailed report, then you can select “see more.” Then, you will be able to see the channel name of every recent subscriber and the date they subscribed to your channel. You can also adjust the chart to show the subscribers you gained over the past week, month, three months, or year.

Organize your video by dividing it into video chapters.

Oftentimes, creators who upload longer videos, such as podcasts or informational content, divide their videos into sections by posting timestamps in their video descriptions. That way, viewers who want to skip to a certain part of a video can use those timestamps to navigate directly to the section they want.

Soon, you’ll be able to organize your video into video chapters so that viewers can find the part they want quickly. The feature works in basically the same way timestamps do, except it will be easier to use.

The feature is currently being tested on desktop and Android with plans to roll out to iOS soon. Creator Philip DeFranco has already been testing out video chapters.

Identify your channel members with highlighted comments.

Many creators support their content creation through channel memberships. Your channel members are your most loyal subscribers. As the fans who engage with you and support you the most, they deserve some recognition.

YouTube is working to highlight video comments made by channel members. They will also elevate these comments in the comments section under each video. As a bonus, other viewers will see a call-to-action to become a channel member themselves under these highlighted comments.

As creators’ content becomes more sophisticated, YouTube is evolving to better accommodate and support your creativity. Experiment with the new features as they roll out so that you can make the most out of your experience on the platform.

The post YouTube Is Experimenting With Video chapters, subscriber card and many more features first appeared on YTVIEWS.IN.

Reducing misinformation

These new tools were designed to aid admins to prevent the spread of misinformation and manage interactions in their group:

Adding the ability through Admin Assist to automatically decline incoming posts identified as containing false information. Incoming posts that contain content rated by third-party fact-checkers as false are declined before they are seen in the group

Expanding the functionality of ‘mute’ and updating it to ‘suspend’ so admins and moderators can temporarily suspend group members and participants from posting, commenting, reacting, participating in a group chat, and creating or entering a Room in a group

The product was mocked of automatically declining posts with false information.

Community management

To help make it easier for group admins to manage their communities, with the new updates they can:

Use Admin Assist to automatically approve or decline member requests, based on specific criteria they set up, including whether the prospective member has completed all member questions.

More efficiently manage their group with new updates to Admin Home. This includes an overview page on the desktop to review things that need attention, a layout update to more easily sort and search tasks, and an insights summary on mobile to help admins understand the growth and engagement of their groups.

Product mock of Admin Assist.

The higher your channel rises in popularity, the higher your viewers’ expectations become. You can improve the overall quality of your videos without leaving the house by creating a home studio.

Here’s how to turn your spare room into the perfect home studio.

1. Start with soundproofing.

The main problem with home studios is noise. The hum of your refrigerator, the whir of a ceiling fan, the phone conversations of your roommates, and the traffic outside can all contribute to background noise. All of that unnecessary background noise takes a toll on your videos’ audio quality.

So, your first priority should be sound-dampening. The best thing you can do is line the walls of your new studio with acoustic panels, which are meant to absorb sound. You can also add a rug and plush furniture to help absorb sound.

You don’t need to shell out hundreds of dollars for professional-grade acoustic panels. You can save money by DIYing your own with the instructions in the video below.

2. Work with your natural lighting.

Next, you need to map out a lighting plan for your studio. Use any windows in the room as anchor points. Your filming space should be perpendicular to any windows rather than directly in front of them. Then, you’ll be able to make use of natural light without any halo effects or washing out on camera. You should also hang blackout curtains so you can cut the light when you need to.

Set a ring light or another strong studio light directly in front of your filming space. This will be your key light. Then, arrange other lamps and light fixtures to fill in any shadows. To add extra interest, play around with LED colored lights as well.

3. Design a cute and comfortable filming space.

Now, it’s time to design the space viewers will actually see on camera. Start with a simple but eye-catching background. You might paint the wall behind you a bright color or hang a tapestry. If you want to change your background up periodically, consider using a backdrop stand and seamless paper rolls.

Next, add a chair and a table of some sort. Choose furniture that is comfortable but also coordinates with your background. You might buy a desk and a chair as a matching set, or you could purchase them separately. Check out thrift stores and yard sales to find good deals.

Then, you can accessorize your space. Incorporate your channel’s personality into your design. For example, if you’re a beauty guru, you might add a sparkly mirror on your desk. If you just hit a new channel milestone, you could hang your YouTube play button up.

4. Set up your camera gear.

Once your filming space is established, you can start arranging your camera equipment. Having a dedicated studio space means your gear can stay out instead of needing to be rearranged every time, so filming videos will be much easier.

Have a friend or family member who’s about your height sit in your filming space so you can adjust your tripod and camera lens. Then, adjust any second-angle cameras, flags, bounce boards, or other equipment you want to use.

You should also make a charging station for your gear so that you don’t have to worry about your camera dying in the middle of a video. Follow the tutorial below.

5. Transform the other half of the room into an editing suite.

Your home studio can be more than a filming space. You can use half of the room behind the camera as an editing suite. That way, all of your YouTube-related business can be done in the same place.

The editing suite will be similar to a home office. Add a second desk for your computer as well as a comfortable desk chair. If you can’t place the desk next to an outlet, run an extension cord from the nearest outlet to your desk.

Equip your editing suite with headphones and an external hard drive. Watch video tours of other creators’ editing setups to get more ideas for designing your own.

6. Give yourself some storage space.

Finally, make sure your home studio has some storage space. Use a few plastic tubs to store video props and filming gear you won’t need every time you film. Be sure to label your boxes clearly, and arrange them so that the things you need the most are the easiest to get to.

You can also utilize filing cabinets or bookshelves. Dedicate a drawer, shelf, or tub to your SD cards so that they’re easy to find. Then, when you run out of storage space midway through filming, you won’t have to waste time clearing off the SD card in your camera.

While you’re organizing the equipment in your new home studio, make a pile of gear you no longer use or want. Sell anything you don’t need anymore to make room for equipment you might purchase in the future.

To improve the quality of your videos, create a professional home studio at home. The idea studio is soundproof, well-lit, and organized. Remember, it’s also your new work space, so make sure it’s comfortable and suits your personality as well.

The post How To Turn Your Spare Room Into The Perfect Home Studio for all of your social media needs first appeared on YTVIEWS.IN.

However, there are certain steps you can take to protect your account along with your personal information.

Here’s how to secure your YouTube account.

Enable two-step verification for any logins to your YouTube account.

Two-step verification requires both your password and a one-time code sent to your phone in order to log in. It protects your account because no one else can log in unless they both know your password and have your phone physically in their hand.

In order to enable two-step verification on your YouTube account, go to your Google Account page. Then, click on “Security” in the upper left sidebar. Under “Signing in to Google,” select “2-Step Verification.” From there, click “Get Started” and follow the prompts that appear on the screen.

Learn the telltale signs of a phishing email.

Phishing emails are classic scams that many people fall victim to every year. Basically, the scammer sends an email posing as a reputable company in a vie for your personal information, such as passwords or credit card numbers.

As a creator, you may receive phishing emails from scammers pretending to be sponsors or offering fake business opportunities. They may ask for passwords, bank information, etc. You can protect yourself from these scams by learning the telltale signs of a phishing email.

An example of pushing email is given in the below image.

First, check the email address the message is coming from. At a glance, it may look similar to an address you’ve communicated with before or another official account, but upon further inspection, there will be slight differences. It could be a misspelling, added punctuation, etc.

Next, look at the body of the email again. They might tell a story in order to try to trick you into sharing your account login information or other personal information. They may also prompt you to open an attachment or click on a link, both of which you should never do.

Finally, look again at what they’re asking you. If they ask to be added as a channel owner or for similar permissions, then it could be a scam. You never want to give channel permissions to anyone outside of your core team.

Never share your login credentials or other personal information in an email.

Whether the person emailing you is a scammer or not, you should never ever share your login credentials or other personal information in an email. Even if the information would be safe with that person, anyone else who gets access to their email or yours could steal it.

If you’re able to meet in person, it’s better to share sensitive information face-to-face. However, if you’re unable to meet in person, think of ways to get around sharing personal information. Instead of giving your login information, you may ask them to send you anything they want posted to your account as part of a sponsorship directly so you can schedule the post yourself. If they want your bank account information so they can pay you, send them your Paypal or Venmo username instead.

Don’t give your YouTube password to anyone else.

The most important part of securing your YouTube account is protecting your password. No one aside from you should have the password to your account. Not even your manager, producer, or any other member of your team should be allowed to know your YouTube password.

If someone needs to be able to manage content on your channel, then you can utilize channel permissions on your YouTube Studio. You can add members of your team as managers, editors, or viewers who can simply see your channel details.

Protecting your YouTube account protects your livelihood as well as the content you’ve created. Enable two-step verification, learn the signs of a phishing email, and utilize channel permissions rather than sharing your password.

The post How To Secure Your YouTube Account in 2022 first appeared on YTVIEWS.IN.

While possible reasons for demonetization are outlined in the platform’s policies, the automated filters sometimes demonetize videos that should have been left alone.

If your video has been wrongly marked with the yellow monetization icon, follow the steps below.

1. Request a human review.

Whenever a video goes live, automated filters review it to ensure it’s suitable for advertisers. However, the filters don’t always get it right. If you feel your video has been wrongly demonetized, the first thing you should do is request a human review.

Go to the demonetized video in your Video Manager. Then, select “Request review.” From there, follow the on-screen instructions, and YouTube will have an employee manually review your video for monetization.

You’ll be able to check the status of your video’s review in your Video Manager. Text will appear next to the video cluing you in on the status. Your reviewer will consider the video’s content, title, thumbnail, description, and tags.

2. Utilize the new Self-Certification feature.

In the coming weeks, YouTube is adding a new step in the video upload process for all ad-eligible creators. This feature, which is called Self-Certification, will enable creators to help the automated filters determine whether their videos should be monetized.

This new step asks creators to tell YouTube about the content of each new upload. You’ll be prompted to answer questions pertaining to the use of profanity, sensitive subjects, etc. in your video before you can finish uploading it.

3. Be honest in self-identifying your videos’ compliance with the advertiser-friendly guidelines.

The most important Self-Certification question will ask if there’s anything in your video that violates YouTube’s advertiser-friendly guidelines. If you know your video is perfectly in line with those guidelines, then you can simply select “no” and be done with it.

However, if your videos do violate those guidelines, then telling YouTube exactly why can help them evaluate your case. According to experts at YouTube, creators who self-identify their own “yellow icon” videos are likely to have better monetization than creators who don’t.

If your video has been wrongly demonetized, immediately request a human review. Once the Self-Certification feature has been introduced, utilize it to protect your monetization.

The post What To Do When Your Videos Keep Being Wrongly Demonetized first appeared on YTVIEWS.IN.
